This year I’ve decided to try and push my concept art and matte painting skills. Whilst my current workload is primarily 3D modelling (as always) I’m finding that I am getting to do quite a few unique concepts and the occasional matte. I’ve never really spent any time learning the basics so I’m pecking through a few tutorials and dvd’s to push me along. I’m not a lover of taking or googling a photograph and just painting over it so I really try and start with blocking out the shapes and then work it up from there. This one started with a jpg of Felix Baumgartner and worked it up stage by stage. Once I’d blocked it out I did use some textures and images to overlay.
